This is a small, finely crafted wooden box, measuring 14 inches by 8 inches by 5 inches. It can hold up to 1/8th of cubic foot of messages or items. The box is adorned with a carving in common reading: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this coffer from the completion of its task."

Once per day, while holding the box, you can speak the name of an recipient, and the box disappears from your hand. After exactly 1 hour it reappears next to the recipient. This works as long as the recipient is someone you have met before, is alive and is on the same plane of existence as you.

When the box appears next to the recipient, they have a 10-minute window to open the box, retrieve the items or messages contained within, and/or add their own items or messages to the box. After 10 minutes, the box disappears once again. After another 1 hour has passed, the box reappears next to the original sender, whether or not the recipient had interacted with it.
