Rod of Alphabetical Objects
Rod, uncommon
This smooth iron rod is engraved with 24 letters, one for each in the common alphabet, excluding "X" and "Z". The rod can summon small potentially useful objects, but you can never be quite sure what you are going to get.
If you speak an engraved letter aloud while holding the rod, the letter disappears from the rod, then an object appears either in your hand or on the ground depending on it's size. Roll on the appropriate table to determine which object is summoned. Then roll a d4, on a 1 the rod cannot be used again until next dawn.
Once the last letter disappears, the rod becomes and ordinary iron rod.
GM's note: An alternate way to use this item is to flip a coin to decide if the item will be useful, then choose an item that starts with the given letter. If it is useful choose an item that meets the player's needs, or if that is impossible one that is generally useful. If it's not useful, give something funny. If the funny item also plays in to the situation, more the better. Keep a dictionary handy!
The GM may choose to reveal the below tables only when the rod has been identified.
